Pectoral Implants

Pectoral implants are soft silicone rubber implants, which are inserted underneath your pectoral muscles on the chest wall, through an incision under the arm. This means you will have a scar, which may be visible.

The operation is done as an outpatient in the hospital, with you asleep or in the office operating facility under local anesthetic. Recovery involves some pain for two to three days, and you will be asked to limit your activities for one month while you heal. The primary risks with pectoral implants are the scar and numbness around the scar as well as down the inner arm.

While any implant can move out of place, the first month after surgery is the most critical time. After the first month, there should be no limitation on your activities, and it is likely that it will be difficult for you to feel the implant.

Consultations are by appointment, on Mondays and Thursdays, 7:30am - 3pm
