Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

The operation to change the shape/size of your nose is called Rhinoplasty. Some people like the shape of their nose and merely want their nose to be smaller; while others like parts of their nose and have some parts changed. During the consultation we will decide what it is you want, and what is likely to fit well with your face structure.

Usually these operations are done with you asleep at the hospital as day-surgery. The incisions are hidden inside the nose, and there will be a splint over the nose for a week.

This is morning surgery, takes about two hours, and you are ready to go home about 2 hours after surgery. You will need someone to drive you, and be with you the day of surgery. Because you will have had medication you will be sleepy, but there is little pain involved. You will need to rest, with your head up as much as possible. The more elevated your head, the less swelling you will have, but count on swollen black eyes for at least a week. There will be some swelling for a month; during his time your nose will look very much like its eventual shape, but the nose will continue to get smaller and the tip of the nose will continue to drop over several more months.

Consultations are by appointment, on Mondays and Thursdays, 7:30am - 3pm
