Neck Suction (double chin)

Many people have a fullness, or collection of fat, under the chin. This fat is easily removed with suction, usually under local anesthetic, in the office operating room. The incision is placed under the earlobe, and a small cannula is then passed down along the neck to under the chin, removing fat from the neck, along the jaw line, and under the chin.

This is outpatient surgery and takes about one hour. Afterwards you will need to be quiet, resting at home with your head elevated. Because of the swelling and bruising you should be off work for several days.

The older you are, the more likely it is that removal of the fat may show some muscle bands underneath the chin. Correction of those bands would require the neck skin to be opened through a small incision under the chin, the fat removed, and the muscle stitched together to give a smooth tight muscle sling across the neck; but this is a bigger operation.

Consultations are by appointment, on Mondays and Thursdays, 7:30am - 3pm
