Lip Rejuvenation

As we age, the tissue around the mouth shrinks, the lips sink in, get thinner, and wrinkle lines and creases appear. As a remedy for these changes, surgery offers several corrections.

FAT INJECTIONS into the muscle of the lip under the skin part, plumps out the lip, giving it more substance and lessening the wrinkles, and makes the lips more full and youthful.

ALLODERM^® is an acellular dermal graft with no potential for implant rejection. This is threaded into the red part of the lip, to give a pouty appearance.

HYLAFORM^® and RESTYLANE^® are injectable fillers used to smooth wrinkles. I use this injection under the border of the lip to give highlights and definition. It can also be useful injected under the deeper creases to help smooth those lines.

These surgeries can be combined in any combination according to what suites you. The surgery is usually done under a local anesthetic in the office operating room, takes about one hour, and you need someone to drive you.

Your lips will be significantly swollen for about a week, and take a month to look reasonably normal. Because your body will continue to absorb some of the implanted tissue, I put in more than you need, and it takes time for the fullness to resolve.
