A Coronal Brow Lift is used to raise the brow and smooth the forehead, the frown lines and the upper eyelid skin. If there is excess upper eyelid skin it is much better to raise the brow rather than remove the eyelid skin. Because the incision is placed back on the scalp, the whole forehead skin area will stretch back down again after the surgery, so the eyebrows will descend some. They will, however, be higher than before surgery.
Because of the pull on the forehead muscles, it is often several months before full forehead movement is regained after the operation. The forehead will be smoother and even deep creases can be expected to be greatly improved. There will be numbness on the top of the head for about six months after surgery.
This browlift surgery is not appropriate for all patients, because their hairline is raised, and their hair may be too thin to hide the scar. The frontal hairline will also go back about a half-inch in the front, up to a full inch at the sides, depending on how much your brow needs to be lifted.
Recovery at home is uncomplicated. You remove the head bandage the next day and shower normally. Your forehead will be smooth and tight, and the frown lines over the nose will be smoothed which will give some bruising which collects under the eyes and will last for several weeks. It will take several weeks to months for all of the movement and feeling to return.
