Buccal Fat Excision

For those patients who wish to change the shape of their face, removal of some of the fat pad in their cheeks will tend to highlight their cheek bones and thin their cheeks. Buccal fat pad removal is an option for those who want a less round face.

The surgery is done under local anesthetic, through a small incision on the inside of each cheek. The risk is low, there is minimal pain or discomfort, but sometimes bruising and swelling can last about a week. Occasionally there is not much fat to be removed.
